Cbank: Russians’ inflationary expectations fall to 7.8% in April

MOSCOW, Apr 20 (PRIME) -- Households’ inflationary expectations for the next 12 months decreased to 7.8% in April from 8.5% in March, the central bank said on Friday in a research note.

“In April, direct assessment of the inflation expectations for the next 12 months by inFOM calculated basing on answers to the question of the inflation level, declined in correspondence with an established trend (to 7.8% in April as compared with 8.5% in March),” the central bank said.

The poll was conducted before volatility of the ruble set in because of new U.S. sanctions.

On April 6, the U.S. imposed sanctions against 38 Russian tycoons, officials and companies.

The central bank also said that it does not rule out a faster approach to the 4% annual inflation target than planned earlier. Risks of a higher than 4% inflation in 2018 remain low.
